Heronswood Garden
It’s trillium time at Heronswood Garden! Come join Dr. Ross Bayton, Director of Heronswood Garden as he leads us through its six distinctive and beautiful landscapes. Each section of the garden exhibits a special focus – Renaissance Garden, Rock Garden, Woodland Garden, Traveler’s Garden, Heron House & Formal Gardens and the S’Klallam Connections Garden. A beautiful and immense fern table nestled amongst mossy logs is not to be missed as well as the garden’s extensive trillium collection!
The Heronswood Garden, owned by the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe, seeks to inspire the community with its plant collections and charismatic landscapes, to educate them on the connections between plants and people, to encourage them to protect plants and their natural habitats, and to appreciate the great diversity of plants and the people who care for them. Heronswood celebrates the diversity of cultures in the Pacific Northwest while showcasing the magic and majesty of botanical treasures from around the world.
Windcliff Plants
Windcliff Plants is a small endeavor on the property of Dan Hinkley and Robert Jones. They propagate only those plants that deserve greater recognition in gardens of North America; you will not find filler or bread and butter crops in garden. But for few exceptions, the entirety of the inventory is part of Dan’s own collection work with their provenance and collection numbers in the plant description or provided upon request.
Windcliff is situated on 6.5 acres of south-facing high bluff overlooking Puget Sound,. The garden showcases Dan’s collection work of 35-plus years. The two-acre site south of the house is naturalistic in style with a large collection of xeric-minded grasses, perennials, shrubs, and small trees. A potager surrounds the greenhouse and the area north of the house and along the drive is meant as an arboretum.
PLANT SHOPPING ALERT! Plants from the nursery will be available for purchase.
