A few years ago, at a temple market in Japan, Pat Riehl saw a plant nursery selling plants using kokedama as a way to display them. She was intrigued! Kokedama, a Japanese technique of wrapping plant roots in moss, is well-suited for growing ferns.
Pat, a HFF board member, will be leading a workshop in kokedama on April 24th at the Bellevue Botanic Garden. One of her most recent creations is pictured here. In this class you will use these companions in nature to create simple but beautiful Kokedama. Expect to get your hands dirty.
This promises to be a fun and inspiring event! Class size is limited to 10 participants, and all materials and supplies will be provided.
