Do you wonder what is the best time to cut back your ferns? Can your ferns be divided and how and when do you do that? Then this is the workshop for you!
Richie Steffen, fern expert, past president of the Hardy Fern Foundation and executive director of the Elisabeth C Miller Botanical Garden, will answer these questions plus much more. Learn the basics of fern cultivation and the finer details of what to do now to make your ferns look their best for spring and summer.
Work in the Hardy Fern Foundation’s Victorian stumpery in the heart of the Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden. Participants will cut back ferns applying the techniques learned and will be shown the ferns that require special care to thrive in your garden.
After the stumpery session of the workshop, the class will visit the HFF Growing area to see some of the new ferns in cultivation and rare treasures that are currently being propagated.
